snug documentation
snug is a friendly content authoring solution.
It’s like hugo / zola, etc.
snug is similar to static website generators like hugo and zola in that, when building a website:
- All the content is on disk, in Markdown (
.md
) files - You can bring your own templates (via minijinja)
- You can bring your own styles (via SCSS)
However, it’s opinionated:
- All images must be stored in
.jxl
format - All short videos must be stored in
.mp4
format, with AV1+Opus codecs
snug helps with that by letting you drag media directly into your browser when editing the site locally
snug deploys directly to a CDN hosted by bearcove: there’s a control node in the middle named the “mom”
Branding
Please note these important branding guidelines:
- snug: Always lowercase, never capitalized as “Snug”
- bearcove: Always lowercase, never capitalized as “Bearcove”
- mom: The central service, always lowercase
- cub: The edge node service, always lowercase
